4 Ingredient Easy Bread Recipe: "Let's Bake" Kiwi Crate (2024)

Disclosure: I was compensated for this post by Kiwi Crate, but we were over-the-moon excited when they asked us about doing a sponsored post because we were about to buy a subscription for S for her birthday. We weren't swayed by the compensation; I only ever post about products we love.

S has been DYING to try Kiwi Crate forever. She even put a subscription as one of her top birthday list wishes, so she was sooooo beyond excited when we got the chance to try Kiwi Crates a bit early. And can I tell you, they did not disappoint! I'll tell you a bit about our experience here and if you are equally impressed you can hop on over to Kiwi Crate and use our code (FUN30) at checkout to get 30% off your first subscription and free shipping! (Kiwi Crate is available in US and Canada)

Kiwi Crate sent us the "Let's Bake" crateto try and here is one happy girl afterward. She got to read (every Kiwi Crate comes with an adorable mini-magazine full of activities and short articles), bake (we'll share the recipe for homemade bread, but there was also a recipe for salt dough), color (she decorated the chef hat and apron with stickers and crayons that were provided), and create (she decorated that beautiful birthday cake she's holding). It was a whole lot of fun and exploring in one little crate.

In addition to all the activities, there are also fun facts throughout. While decorating the chef outfit, we learned that the folds in early chef's hats represented how many recipes they could cook. So the more folds there were, the more experienced the chef. I had no idea!

Once she'd read the magazine and decorated her hat and apron, she was ready to cook. Kiwi Crate is full of kid-friendly text and directions. S is 5 years old (almost 6) and was able to read through and complete the activities with minimal mom help. :)

Kiwi Crate has given me permission to share their simple 4 ingredient bread recipe with you all. I wanted you to see how nicely it's laid out, so here's a photo of what their information looks like (and it has all the information you need to make the bread at home!):

I gathered the necessary ingredients and tools from our kitchen and S set to work reading, measuring, and mixing all by herself.

She loved being able to stir alone. She's finally strong enough!

After setting the bread dough aside to rise, she moved on to the sponge cake decorating. Again, there were great kid-friendly directions included (you can see them peeking out of the left corner in the photo below) and all the materials were fantastic. The icing clay was seriously so much like icing!

The decorations for the cake were great - super colorful and easy (and not frustrating!) for little hands.

S gives the Kiwi Crate two enthusiastic thumbs up and getting a year's subscription is now at the top of her birthday list!

Kiwi Crates are designed for kiddos that are ages 4-8, but they also offer Koala Crates for ages 3-4, Doodle Crates for ages 9-16+, and Tinker Crates for ages 9-14+. You can buy single crates, or you can purchase subscriptions that are 3 months (save $15), 6 months (save $38), or 12 months (save $95). Another thing I love is that they offer two really useful add-on options for subscribers - you can get a deluxe upgrade and they'll include a curated book that works with the crate's theme (and from what I've seen they have great taste in kids' books). You can also choose the sibling option and they'll include enough extra supplies for an additional child to participate in all the activities.

Kiwi Crate is also running a special for folks who sign up soon where for the months of June, July, and August you'll receive Kiwi Crate's Summer Discover Series - full of fun summer-themed projects delivered right to your door (you can read more about the Summer Discovery Series and sneak a peek at an adorable lemonade stand craft here).
